Do you love sandwich recipes? Who doesn’t? This recipe is the perfect food, made with just about any ingredients you can imagine and stuffed into almost any type of bread imaginable! So it makes sense that everyone has their favourite sandwich recipe. However, there are so many great recipes that it can take time to choose the best one. In this guide, we’ll cover all the best elements of a perfect sandwich and even tell you how to make the best sandwich ever!

Bread: What’s the Difference?

It’s not just how you make it but what kind of bread you use. Understanding the different types of bread and where they originate can help determine which bread will suit your needs.

The following are five popular types of bread that people use when making sandwiches:

White Bread—White bread is a type of bread in which the dough has been allowed to rise and baked in an oven until browned on the top and hollow on the inside. Its thin crust with a soft centre makes it one of the most commonly used for homemade sandwiches.

Baguette—A baguette is a long loaf that originated in France and is about 8 inches long by 2 inches wide. These loaves have crisp crusts and chewy interiors, perfect for freshly sliced sandwiches or as croutons on salads.

English Muffin—Samuel Bath Thomas invented English muffins in America around 1872. They became popular because they were easy to make at home. They are small, round, flat circular breakfast foods with nooks and crannies all over their surface.

Rye Bread– Europeans and eastern Asians eat this Rye bread because it is their tradition where rye flour is the primary ingredient. However, rye flour is typically combined with wheat flour to create lighter-coloured loaves that resemble white bread in America. Some may even call these sandwiches.

This easy sandwich recipe requires only three ingredients: two slices of bread, lunch meat, and cheese.

For instructions on how to put together a DIY homemade sandwich, see the steps below.

1) Spread both pieces of bread with butter (or margarine) and place them together in a pan or microwaveable dish. Cover with a heat-safe cover and cook (microwave) for 3 minutes (or less).

2) Carefully remove the cover so the steam doesn’t burn you! Then, slice two pieces of lunch meat diagonally across the middle of each slice of bread.

Bread Options for sandwich recipes

1. Sourdough bread – great for toasting and making sandwiches.

2. White bread – inexpensive and comes in various shapes (circles, squares, etcetera).

3. Flour tortilla – is less potent than bread but is suitable for wraps or quesadillas.

4. Naan bread– leavened Indian flatbread often eaten with curries.

5. Baguette– a long French loaf made from wheat flour, perfect for slicing into crusty pieces of bread.

6. Ciabatta– Italian white bread is known for its chewy texture and crunchy crust.

7. Croissant: Flaky dough is typically layered, folded, rolled out, and shaped into a crescent before being baked until golden brown.

8. Best Homemade Sandwich– This recipe takes some time, but the result is worth it.

To start, you will need three different types of cheese:

1) blue cheese crumbles,

2) thinly sliced provolone cheese, and

3) freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Next, you will need fresh spinach leaves, olive oil, and mayonnaise. Spread on both slices of bread, followed by one layer each of provolone and blue cheese crumbles with salt and pepper mixed in between layers for flavour.

Meat and Cheese Choices

At your grocery store, you can find a variety of meats and cheeses that will taste amazing when sandwiched between two slices of bread. Some choices include ham, turkey, bologna, cheese, and more. Feel free to use two or three of your favourite recipes for this recipe!

Deli Meats and Cheese

The best homemade sandwich starts with quality deli meats and cheeses. Load up your bread slices with ham, turkey, and provolone cheese. Also, slice a jar of deli-style mustard in the middle of the sandwich on top of the cheese. Squeeze a dollop of mayonnaise from a big container onto one end of the bread slice. Close up the sandwich and start enjoying it! Don’t forget to include lettuce, tomato, onion, and dill pickles as toppings for that extra zing!

For an extra special treat, add a few apples or grape tomatoes. And don’t forget the chipotle pepper sauce – we all need to spice things up now and then!

Mix-In Ingredients

Moreover, who doesn’t love a good sandwich? A perfect example of two-for-one food, sandwiches are economical and tasty meals that can be whipped up in a pinch. Furthermore, the beauty of sandwiches is their diversity—from classic grilled cheese to more elaborate deli creations with artisan bread, there’s something for everyone!

However, the Thanksgiving sandwich is one of my favourites and packs a protein punch. You start by ensuring you add the turkey slice to the bottom piece of bread and then spreading cranberry sauce. You then combine chopped celery, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes to make your unique stuffing distribute. After that, you slather it on top of the turkey slices and add another slice of bread on top before cutting it into four equal pieces.
